August 19, 2009: AOI Research & Education Foundation awarded a $10,000 grant to sustain the work of OEDI in the aftermath of state budget cuts. Commitments also have been received from Hoffman Corporation, A-dec, Inc. and Knife River Materials - Southern Oregon. The OEDI Employer Task Group will continue to seek grant support for the remainder of its budget year. November 10, 2008: Upcoming trainings include a Supervisor Training on Workplace Behavior Problems: The Challenge of Substance Abusers in Klamath Falls (Nov. 14), and in Salem (Nov. 20) and an Employer Forum on Does Treatment for Substance Abuse Work? in Roseburg (Dec. 2)
October 21, 2008: Chuck Carey, Health & Well-Being Manager, A-dec, Inc., was named 2009-2010 Chair of the OEDI Oregon Employer Task Group. Chuck served as chair of the Task Group's Survey Committee, which raised $11,000 to fund a second statewide employer survey by Oregon Employment Dept. Survey results are due Nov. 30.
October 2008: Substance abuse has become one of the toughest challenges for employers in Oregon and we continue to be involved in a significant debate on medical marijuana in the workplace. Employer forums on The Economic Impact of Substance Abuse and The Need for a Legislative Solution will be held Oct. 7 in Woodburn, Oct. 9 in Newport and Oct. 23 in Albany. Local legislators have been invited to each forum to present their recommendations for 2009 session.
07/16/08: Oregon Employer Drug-Free Initiative becomes a program of Associated Oregon Industries Research & Education Foundation effective July 16, 2008. Mimi Bushman will continue to serve as Director. AOI is Oregon's largest and most influential comprehensive business association.

07/16/08: Oregon Employer Drug-Free Initiative Employer Task Group commissions statewide employer survey by Oregon Employment Department to be completed by November, 2008. The survey will measure the initiative’s progress since 2006, when an initial survey showed that only 13% of Oregon businesses have comprehensive drugfree workplace programs in place.

5/25/07: OEDI completed its Spring 2007 round of employer-delivered classroom presentations on company drug and alcohol policy and impact of substance abuse on employment. Presenters in its Improving Student Understanding of Drugs in the Workplace high school program included Gary Baysinger, Gunderson (for Barlow HS); Janice Chandler, PCC Structurals (for Parkrose HS), and Mattison Schilling, Oregon Chain (for Meek Prof-Tech HS in Portland).
11/20/06: OEDI co-sponsors Oregon Business Plan Pre-Leadership Summit on The Coming Labor Shortage: What it Means for Oregon and Essential Strategies for your Business to Compete. Don Skundrick, VP, LTM Inc and Chair, OEDI Employer Task Group will serve as one of six business panelists addressing strategies for tapping underutilized talent and stabilizing the current workforce.
10/23/06: Seven more business groups sign up for OBP drug-free workplace initiative. A statewide initiative aimed at tripling the number of Oregon employers who adopt and enforce drug-free workplace policies by the end of 2008.
9/27/06: A-dec, Inc., Cascade Corporation, PacifiCorp and Precision Castparts fund statewide employer survey. OEDI thanks corporate donors for supporting a statewide survey conducted this fall by Oregon Employment Department on extent of drugfree workplace program implementation by Oregon employers.
6/26/06 - State opens effort to triple number of drug-free workplaces by 2008. Bend, Klamath County and Prineville-Crook County chambers of commerce have been named OEDI pilot sites in the Oregon Business Plan initiative.
